It's been a year since we conducted a soft reboot of our platform. Despite a somewhat rough launch we managed to achieve what we set out to do, including delivering on the new design in time for Winter holidays. Judging by every metric available to us, Vids 2.0 was a success, not to mention something that allowed us to offer you a better experience and a better service - and we will strive to continue doing that in the future!
Today we'd like to share some considerations for our future direction and the changes we will be implementing in the coming months.
Theme of the site
Ever since we adopted the new, "individual" monetization model, we received an ability to accurately evaluate the demand for every video at the site. Previously, we used to believe piss voyeur is exclusively what our audience wants, and that everything else could be safely relocated to Girlspee or otherwise. However, our estimate suggests that voyeur content accounts for roughly 60% of our sales, and that staged content (all those JAVs and the like) still make up for a substantial 40%. This is because despite voyeur videos tending to perform very well, this is balanced by how rare this kind of content is. Which leads to a second issue - even if we were to shift to a voyeur-only site, there is no guarantee we would be able to maintain the flow of content and cadence of updates that is befitting such a site while also what our customers are used to.
Long story short - for the foreseeable future Vids shall remain a site about voyeur/staged pissing and pee desperation. With that being said, we will continue doing our annual Spring Cleaning events, and relocating low-demand content to make way for only the most exciting stuff everyone wants to see here.
Monetization
A model of offering our content separately we adopted this year already proved itself as the optimal one. It ensures sustainability and allows us to continue offering you the best version of Vids possible. And as mentioned, it allows us to accurately assess demand and as such allows us to assign our resources accordingly.
With Girlspee now existing as a separate site, where the entirety of our low-demand content is offered in bulk through a subscription - the new monetization model at Vids is here to stay.
Support
Throughout this year we've been gradually streamlining the most recurrent support requests (that being payment-related) and handle them through the site directly. This allows to eliminate the need for most of our customers to engage with the Hub at all, unless they happen to have a specific question or situation, which does not tend to happen a lot. Even though our initial design for the forms was a bit rough, through iteration we believe we now achieved user experience that will be intuitive to both our new and returning customers. Naturally, there was a consideration to find a way to eliminate the Hub entirely and handle everything through site itself. However, there is a number of reasons why we chose not to do so. For example, we would like to always have a platform where you can find information in case of the site itself not being available - a platform that is hosted on a separate server and is entirely operated by us, unlike solutions akin to Telegram or Twitter/X pages, which might prove unreliable given the nature of our operation. Secondly, while it would be possible to figure out an integration of accounts between the site/Support Hub and/or replicate all the Hub's features at the site itself - in reality this would be too much costs for too little gain.
So we ultimately decided to continue to separate between payment-related matters which are handled through forms at the site itself; and matters that require an elaborate answer or investigation, and as such will continue to be handled through the Hub, as well as news.
Future direction
For the past few years we've seen a trend of content producers either going out of business or instituting increasingly harsh restrictions of how their content can be accessed. This has become especially prominent with this year's Peeing-Outdoors situation. As such, this days we are facing the reality where losing our collection means recovering most of it would be very difficult or even no longer possible.
This makes the preservation of our library of some of the best content in pissing / pee desperation genres our #1 priority. We will be looking into additional backups and redundancies to make sure we are prepared for every occasion.
Too long; Didn't read
- Vids 2.0 was a success and over the year we achieved the goals of the upgrade;
- The site will continue to offer voyeur/staged pissing and pee desperation content;
- Spring Cleaning events will continue to be conducted, with low-demand content moved to Girlspee;
- We will continue using the "individual" monetization model, while subscriptions will be offered at Girlspee;
- Payment-related support will be provided through forms at the site itself, with the Hub covering everything else;
- Going forward, we will prioritize preservation of content to avoid the potentially irreparable damage to our collection.
