We've been looking into reasons as to why many of our videos are underperforming. We arrived at the conclusion that unless something is on the "latest" list, it's basically invisible to you all. And so we looked into ways to better show you all the cool stuff we have here at Vids. We feel the updates and changes listed below are necessary to make sure certain videos of ours are really low-demand, and it's not us doing a poor job of making them visible to you. So, without further ado:
Featured videos
We've added the "featured" tab on the home page for all of our channels alongside the existing "latest" one, to be displayed by default. The idea behind featured is to show you the cool stuff we have across different categories, and possibly bring your attention to videos you never even knew we had. You are still able to switch to the usual "latest" tab if you prefer, and the "show more" button leading to the channel page is still there as well.
Tags
We remember this topic was constantly brought up in the days of the old sites. Even though we finally got tags with the Vids 2.0 upgrade, we still hadn't quite figured out what our tags should look like. Until now. We realized that the majority of our content is pretty similar, and we can't really come up with a lot of tags for say pissing scenes, unless we do tags like "blonde", "milf", "jeans" and all. But doing tags like that would mean watching tens of thousands of videos, which is just not realistic for us admins here. And we can't really give this job to our members either, as the results would be quite unpredictable, and not in a good way.
So instead we decided that tags should be meaningful and allow you to find something cool, like a subtheme of a certain genre. Hence the tags like "waiting in line", "trailing", "story", "holding contest". Something we also realized is that if we can't make tags meaningful (i.e. so that they can't be replaced with the search or featured or related videos or something else) - then we might as well just make them useful shortcuts. So we added plenty of new tags that can be used as quick filters by certain series to (especially alongside with sorting) great effect. Some examples of new tags are "rock festival", "desperate girls", "latina pissing" and others. You should now be easily able to tell which clips of the certain series we have, and which we don't.
Better search with filters
We have also acted on your feedback for our new design throughout January - thanks everyone who contributed to that. As part of that, we fixed the bugs with the new search, so both filtering by channels and categories as well as sorting (including alphabetically) now works as intended. Our search is now better than ever - hopefully you'll put it to good use.
